The magic of Christmas in Colmar is, first of all, the atmosphere in the Old Quarter, illuminated and decorated like a fairy tale: a historic décor made magic by the Christmas illuminations which, during this festive period, blend harmoniously into the exceptional light displays designed to enhance the town's heritage and clothe Colmar town centre in a soft aura of light.

At the Unterlinden Museum, Colmar
For winter 2008-2009, the Unterlinden Museum is organizing an exhibition devoted to what is probably the most surprising of all the machines invented during the history of the birth of cinema: The Magic Lantern.

All the Christmas markets: Place Jeanne d'Arc,Place de l'Ancienne Douane, Place des Dominicains, Koïfhus, Petite Venise,
are open from Saturday 22 November to Monday 31 December 2008.

 

Opening hours:
Sundays to Thursdays from 10:00 to 19:00;
Fridays and Saturdays: 10h – 20h
except Friday 26 December and Saturday 27 December: 10h - 19h.
24/12: closes at 17:00
25/12: closed (the markets will be open on 26/12)
31/12: closes at 17:00

In partnership with the regional Federation of arts and crafts of Alsace (FREMAA), an exhibition of arts and crafts in Alsace will be held at the Dominican church in Colmar which houses the famous 'Virgin and the rose bush' by Martin Schongauer. Site: Dominican Church
Entry: 1€ per adult. Art exhibitors and craftsmen will be present at the Dominican church from 24/11 to 31/12…

 

 

The Christmas skating rink

Place Rapp hosts the warm Christmas atmosphere in a bucolic setting of fir trees, rocks and illuminations. This ex-parade ground, the biggest square in Colmar, separates the prefecture and the town centre with its shady park and is now the setting for great events. Opening hours
