Hiking and rambling

To say that the Massif des Vosges is a hikers' paradise would be an understatement: in the contrasting landscapes of high pastures, valleys, forests and lakes, rich and authentic landscapes, some 16 500 km of marked trails await you, for simple family strolls or more difficult circuits taking several days, on foot, horseback or mountain bike…

Inveterate hikers, ready to take to the road for several days or even weeks, or strollers with a few hours to spare, all appreciate the peaceful harmony of a really authentic natural setting and the reassuring presence of route markers, equipped shelters, refuges… which largely facilitate your exploration of the Vosges Mountains.
The Massif des Vosges is criss-crossed by 16 000 km of marked hiking trails, maintained by volunteers from the Club Vosgien, created in 1872 and including a hundred associations. On these trails, apart from their remarkable marking work (giving distances, times and degree of difficulty of the routes), rest stops make these routes more pleasant and perfectly accessible to all, even beginners.
No matter what your age or sporting level, whether you want to walk for an hour, a day or a month, the Massif des Vosges has a multitude of opportunities for walking and strolling.
Here is one route proposed in the Massif des Vosges :
LE SENTIER DES ROCHES (THE ROCK TRAIL):

Lasting approximately 3h30, this fairly athletic loop provides a splendid panorama over the Vosges, the Plain of Alsace and the Black Forest. From Col de la Schlucht at 1139 m, the rock trail follows an upward trail carved into the rock to the steep slopes of Montabey and the Trois Fours, then joins the Frankenthal cirque between the Hohneck, one of the culminating points of the range at 1362 m, and the impressive wall of Col de la Schlucht via the sentier des Crêtes (Peaks trail).
